First, I have been using reusable pads for over a year now, and definitely prefer them to disposables. I originally switched to reusable pads because I have extremely sensitive skin. I was reacting badly to the disposables, and couldn’t stand the burning and itching anymore. I started doing some research into alternatives, and decided to give reusable pads a shot. I am a larger woman, so I usually prefer longer pads. I like The ultra overnight pad for my heaviest nights.
The price is amazing, these pads are literally a third of the price of the ones I have been using, for the same size. The product arrive fast, taking only two days to arrive.
After removing the pad from the package, I was struck by how light these are. In comparison to my usual reusable ultra overnight pads, these are not only light, but also a lot thinner. This is great, as they won’t show through your clothing like some of the thicker reusable pads will. Just because they are thin, it doesn’t mean they don’t hold a lot. They actually hold just as much as my thicker reusable pads. The top layer is soft, and barely noticeable. It doesn’t rub your skin, and feels great. The pad stays in place nicely, and has two snaps so that you can adjust them for thin underwear. They also are cute, with a pattern of roses.
I would definitely recommend these to a friend, and suggest that if you are thinking about trying reusable pads, you try these. Once you try them, you will never go back to disposables. This size of pad is wonderful for if you have a very heavy period, Or bladder leakage. They are also great for women like me that tend to roll around a lot in their sleep, and find that smaller pads move a lot and might leak. These pads work better if you ware tighter underwear, that holds the pad in place. The pads didn’tbunch up on me at all, or move.
For cleaning, I usually soak my pads in a small bucket with some water and peroxide. After my period is over, I rinse the pads well, then wash them with laundry soap for handwashing. I hang them to dry, then run them through my washer and dryer. This gets them very clean, and removes any stains. It also keeps them nice and soft. Reusable pads are probably not a good idea if you are squeamish, and have a problem washing out blood or urine. They actually aren’t that bad to wash, when I started using reusable pads I was actually surprised that it didn’t bother me to wash them.
