When I first ordered these I was skeptical. But they are easy to clean...and they keep ME clean! There is no oder while wearing them. Some throw away would let orders escape and I always feared others could smell me on my period...my thoughts were...if I can smell it
.so can others. So I was very insecure about that...these ease those worries! And we're I used to keep a yeast infection bc I wore throw away pads everyday as a protection against a sneeze or cough that might cause a bladder leak, well...I wear these every day. With NO yeast infections anymore!! I don't worry about bladder leaks, they held up really well with my first week of using..I got super sick and was hacking, coughing, and drizzling "pee" like a crippled animal everytime I turned around! These reusable pads, caught everything!!! And as a truck driver being on the road, I wasn't able to change immediately and would have to wait til I reached an area I could pull over to change...the pads kept the wetness away from me, and it was very rare that I ever had to change pants too!! Where with the throw away pads I'd have went through pads, panties, and pants all at the same time!!! Cleaning them is super easy as well. It's no more than washing out a pair of pants you've accidentally bled into...the only difference is these keep it out of your pants and into the pads where it belongs!! I'm ordering the wider ones for wearing with my white outfits. Not that these wouldn't hold it...it's more for my insecurities more than anything! Tbh, these haven't leaked into my pants not one time and that's with really bad periods AND blood clots! Seems like being older those come more often than not, but still these pads catch them and soak them up and keep them away from me...wear the throw away just let it set there next to your skin!! I e ordered more, bc I'll never go back to throwaways again. I dread using them or tampons either one now. And have had too on occasion when I ran out of these. Also another reason I ordered more! When I was sick I went through them pretty fast and being on the road I couldn't wash them thoroughly right away...just a quick wash out and then go...they'd dry in the truck and then get washed when I wash my regular clothes. I'm extremely happy with these!!! Thank you so much!!!
I realized I have had these for quite a long time, so I looked up my purchase history to realize it's been just over 2 years since I bought these!
They still seem perfectly fine, they absorb well, they have no stains, the snap still holds tight on all of them. They also do not have ANY residual odor, and I believe it may be the charcoal that helps them neutralize odors in use. Anyway, I realize, I replaced my underwear once a year, perhaps I should replace these as well... So here we are I am rebuying them :-)
I absolutely recommend this brand as well, I know there are a lot of corporate mass produced variations of cloth pads, but I appreciate the handmade quality and unique patterns.
I love that these don't stain, and as others have said, it is an odd adjustment to not be able to "see" the volume of your flow, but I'm an older gal, and I know my body well enough to know which day is my heavier day without seeing it. That being said, my flow is now light to normal, and I've never had any leaks. In my younger days, I would actually fill up and leak over menstrual discs or menstrual cups, so if that's the flow you have, I can't speak to the efficacy of this product for that, but others seem to find it acceptable. I believe these pads can hold a lot, I'm just not sure how quickly they can absorb a gush.
Finally-cloth pads in general are a game changer. No matter how soft the factory processed cotton is supposed to be on disposable pads, it either bunches up and shreds while you walk, or especially in hot months or heavy activity, I would even get skin irritation from friction. None of that is an issue at all, and I would even suggest that these soft absorbent bamboo cloth helps to absorb any sweat or moisture and help keep you dry and comfortable even in the balmiest summer.
Just to be clear, I don't normally wear pads. This is my first reusable pad purchase and probably haven't used normal pads since middle school. They just felt dirty and uncomfortable to me. Lately, I have been slowly turning my lifestyle into natural, organic and reusable in regard to everything. I makes me upset that there is so much waste and not enough recycling and reusing in this world. I have begun using menstrual cups and in conjunction with them I have bought these to try as a back up in case I fail at the cup. I also intend on using them for light days at the end of my period. I, for one, am very happy to be contributing no feminine products to the landfills anymore. Goodbye tampons.
Onto the product itself! At first glance, they are really well made! Very happy with the construction, softness and design on them. I got the bird design. I see no flaws in the stitching at all which is hard to come by these days. Good quality. The material that sits on your body is fleece and the outer design material seems to be some sort of cotton stretch possibly. It is nice and stretchy, snaps are on very well too. I had absolutely no problems with shifting, but I also wear really tight pants so that may have contributed I am not really sure. They do have two snaps for adjustability while attaching them to your underwear. I only used this once so far to test out the first day of wearing my cup incase I had any accidents while out. No leaks so I am not sure about the absorbency or how they hold up in those terms. The only issue I had was they were quite long ( I bought the medium) since I am using them more as a panty liner I will probably buy the size small and use these for what I intended for, the light days. I would assume someone using these as pads and not panty liners would do fine with the medium on regular flow days. Very comfortable against the body, no shifting, great construction....I really have no complaints about these. The prints are lovely, I will purchase my next size in the daisy print!
I bought a few ones, these are among my favorites. I like the dark color of the inside part (who wants white ones to see leftover imprints of anterior blood stain?!), and reusable pads breathe so much better than plastic disposable one, so they don't develop odors as easily as the disposable ones. Also easy to wash : I do a rince only cycle with the washer (or occasionnaly, I let them presoak in a container instead) before doing the regular cycle with soap and they come out all clean. So it's better for my confort and better for the planet.
These are amazing. I'm 39, and I've used traditional feminine hygiene products my whole life, mainly Tampax pearl. I've always HATED disposable pads, even ultra thin ones. But I reached a point where tampons started to irritate me.
I wish I'd found these AGES ago. They don't crinkle, stick to you, make you sweat, or irritate your skin like disposables. I bleed heavily, and these have never leaked or allowed my clothes or underwear to become stained.
I don't soak them. Just rinse them well and scrub the top side of the pad against itself with a bit of liquid detergent. I wash them with my clothes and hang them to dry. They come totally clean: no smell, no stains (even the light colored designs), nothing. They are easier to care for than you'd expect, and once you have a stash, you're set. No worries about running out of supplies.
